Leather Bonnet Strap Kit – Double Buckle – Lined

Premium leather over-bonnet strap. 1 1/2″ (38mm) leather bonnet strap with felt lining and fitting kit. Available in high-quality brown or black leather.
This pattern is a three-part strap – with two buckles on the centre section and pointed/plain ends for the sides. Felt lined with buckle protector pads as standard. Please note – the pointed/plain ends are open-ended (without staples) to allow customer fitting – fixings and hole punch are supplied to enable fitting. The top strap with buckles is made to order – please specify the length required from the roller end of one buckle to the roller end of the other buckle. These straps are usually made within 10 to 14 days of order.

The TOBY Premium Bonnet Strap kit is supplied with two chrome-on-brass staple loops for 1.5″ belts, a leather hole-punch and stainless steel Chicago screws. Leather rivets are available online, but TOBY recommends and supplies Chicago screws for ease of use.

Instructions:

1. We recommend using a paper template to determine where the top buckles should rest on your bonnet, with consideration to where the staple loops are to be mounted. Note the measurement from one buckle-roller end to the other buckle-roller end. This is measurement A on the diagram below.
2. Order your Toby Double Buckle strap using this measurement. To provide further confirmation of sizes, please email a drawing complete with dimensions to info@tobyvintage.com
3. When fitting, assemble the strap on the bonnet in the correct position (using the middle of the 5 holes punched into the plain ends) and measure up the required fitted length of the leather belt allowing for approximately 3″ to be fed through the mounting staples, doubled back and riveted back through to the strap. Then cut the ends of the side straps to the length required, doubling them through the staples and securing with the Chicago screws through the holes you make with the leather punch supplied.
4. As an example, with a top strap length of 60cm from the roller-end of one buckle to the roller-end of the other buckle, when assembled with the side straps the maximum bonnet dimension the strap will fit (assembled on the middle holes) would be 75″ (190cm) allowing for the curve of the leather through the buckles and 3″ of leather folded over at each end and back through the staples for fixing.
